Скромный Кыргызстанский джазовый вундеркинд Эльдар Джангиров парадоксальным образом почти не известен широкой публике в России. Я и сам случайно наткнулся на его первый "большой" альбом работая в музыкальном магазине. Это уже потом выяснилось что как раз в Новосибирске девятилетнего Эльдара заметил его будущий спонсор Чарльз МакУортер на одном из джазовых фестевалей. Чарльз был настолько впечатлен его игрой, что по его протекции мальчик получил возможность учиться в США в знаменитом Центре Искусств в Интерлокене. Дальнейшую его карьеру можно назвать поистине фееричной - Эльдар издаётся на Sony Music Entertainment, оба его альбома получают очень достойную прессу, с ним играют Джон Патитуччи, Майкл Бреккер, Рой Харгрув, Крис Ботти, в 2000 году он выступает на церемонии вручения Грэмми, а уже в 2007 его самого номинируют на неё. К этому времени его успевают сравнить наверное со всеми выдающимися джазовыми пианистами, напророчить великое будущее и объявить преемником Оскара Петерсона. Как бы там ни было за Эльдара прекрасно говорит его музыка - невесомая, но, в то же время, невероятно профессиональная и изысканая. В конце концов - просто очень красивая.
Eldar Djangirov was born January 28, 1987, in Kyrgyzstan in the former Soviet Union. At age five, he began playing, note for note, the pieces his father Emil would play on the family piano. His mother, Tatiana, a teacher of music history at the Music College in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, began giving the young Eldar piano lessons. In the summer of 1996, the late Charles McWhorter, a jazz enthusiast from New York City, heard Eldar playing at the Novosibirsk Jazz Festival in Russia. McWhorter obtained a scholarship for the young pianist to attend the summer music camp at Michigan's Interlochen Center for the Arts for three years running (1998-2000). At age 12, Eldar became a member of Interlochen's High School Jazz Big Band. In 1998, the Djangirov family first visited Kansas City, Missouri, famous for its jazz history and traditions. The Djangirovs have since settled in Prairie Village, just outside Kansas City, where Eldar does his academic work at Rockhurst High School, and frequently performs for Kansas City audiences. He has studied jazz harmony and improvisation with jazz educator Kim Park, big band with Vernon Howard, and arranging with Dave Remington.

Eldar received national recognition in April 1999 when he performed on National Public Radio as the youngest guest ever invited by the hostess to appear on Marian McPartland's Piano Jazz. Ms. McPartland immediately invited him to perform on her annual jazz concert series at the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, New York, where he appeared in May of 2000. Eldar has also performed on the 42nd Annual Grammy Awards Show (February 23, 2000), and was profiled by Dr. Billy Taylor for CBS TV News Sunday Morning (aired February 27, 2000). Now well on his way to an important jazz career, Eldar won first place over many older competitors in the International Lionel Hampton Jazz Piano Competition, part of the February 2001 Lionel Hampton Jazz Festival.
